D.A.S. BLACKSMITH

Operating from the Upper Yarra Museum, D.A.S. Blacksmith delivers classes and experiences for those interested in this ancient art.

This traditional forge is managed by Dale Schafer, an experienced designer-maker Blacksmith with extensive industrial design background who is passionate about producing hand forged bespoke pieces in a traditional manner with fire, hammer and anvil.

"While my practices are traditional I keep it relevant with modern and contemporary designs."

Dale also has a deep interest in the conservation and restoration of old machinery and tools and his knowledge in this area has enabled him to work on different restoration projects.

In the spirit of keeping this ancient art form alive, the forge is open every Sunday to anyone who wishes to see blacksmiths in action.
